Pridelets for May 1

Pridelets for May 1
On this day in 2001, a federal judge dismisses the case of Dr. J.
Barrett Hyman vs. Louisville and Jefferson County, Kentucky ... over a
city ordinance "that would have requiring him to hire openly homosexual
individuals in violation of his religious beliefs." Says Jeff Vessels,
the Kentucky state executive director of the ACLU, the decision makes it
clear that personal religious beliefs do not exempt someone from civil
rights laws. Dr. Hyman, says that the dismissal (of his frivolous
lawsuit) is "a sad day for Christians and most people who believe in the
Bible."

Craig Lucas is a premier American dramatist and now a major film

Alan Rudolph provide further insight into Lucas's work.
